error.
Bug nr 428
Reported on 16-04-96
Fixed on 16-04-96
Reported by Klaus Nitsche
Description Auto-adding a new fileecho is causing problems. The
fileecho in question already exists, but ALLFIX is trying
to add it again. While adding it, the program causes a
trap.
This problem does not occur in 1.20 build 1. I have been
unable to explain the cause of this problem.

Bug nr 433
Reported on 17-04-96
Fixed on 11-05-96
Reported by Ruud van Munster
Description ALLFIX is sometimes unable to open the EzyCom file database
files. It seems that this problem does not always occur,
but it does affect a few areas in particular.
This problem occurs when there are not enough file handles
available.
Bug nr 453
Reported on 02-05-96
Fixed on 11-05-96
Reported by John McAlpin, Martijn Janssen
Description ALLFIX is reporting the following error, even though the
message base files are all located in the proper directory:
Error opening Hudson Message Base dir: 'E:\BBS\MSG_BASE\'
Unable to write new file report, HMB board : 19
This problem was the result of not enough file handles
available.
Bug nr 456
Reported on 06-05-96
Fixed on 07-05-96
Reported by Michael Bauer
Description Running ALLFIX Notify is causing ALLFIX to think that the
some strange sequence of groups has been specified on the
commandline using the -Groups switch.
Bug nr 459
Reported on 06-05-96
Fixed on 07-05-96
Reported by Daniel Jacobs
Description When calculating the Crc of a file, the file should be
opened in read-denynone mode instead of read-write denynone
mode. This will make it possible to open a read-only file.
Bug nr 460
Reported on 07-05-96
Fixed on 07-05-96
Reported by Riley Williams
Description ALLFIX hangs when a seenby list in a .TIC file contains
more than 255 systems.
Bug nr 462
Reported on 07-05-96
Fixed on 07-05-96
Reported by Jim Smoot
Description FIXUTIL Pack is causing ALLFIX to create a very large
STATFILE.FI$ and STATFILE.ID$ file which exceeds 28 MB.
The cause of this problem is the change in the maximum
length of the fileecho tag. The only way to solve this
problem is by deleting the STATFILE.* files.
Bug nr 464
Reported on 08-05-96
Fixed on 08-05-96
Reported by Ruud van Munster
Description Concerning the EzyCom BBS, in order to reduce the number of
filehandles that ALLFIX needs to open the file database
files, a few small changes were necessary. ALLFIX will now
require one less filehandle for updating the file database
and two less for simply reading from the file database.
Bug nr 470
Reported on 10-05-96
Fixed on 10-05-96
Reported by Eric Carriere
Description When updating an alias file, ALLFIX always inserts new
entries before a line containing a '*' character on the
first column. The reason is that certain mailers use that
symbol, and new entries must be placed before the line
containing such a symbol on the first column. This,
however, presents a problem when the alias file contains a
string such as "*.*".
Bug nr 471
Reported on 10-05-96
Fixed on 10-05-96
Reported by Sander Smeenk
Description When using the "SortFiles.BBS" command, FIXUTIL will leave
FILES.$$$ files behind in every directory that does not
contain a FILES.BBS file.
Bug nr 473
Reported on 10-05-96
Fixed on 10-05-96
Description While processing file requests, ALLFIX was aborting the
scan right at the beginning due to a small mistake in the
code.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ToDo nr 39
Sugggested on 31-10-95
Implemented on 09-05-96
Suggested by Michael Bauer
Description Place the reason a .TIC was rejected in a log file, making
it easier for the SysOp to determine why a particular file
was rejected. The name of the log file is BADTICS.LOG.
ALLFIX will maintain this log file in the "Bad tics"
directory.
ToDo nr 84
Sugggested on 19-11-95
Implemented on 09-05-96
Suggested by Paul Lopez
Description Set the "Use FDB" option to "n/a" for a passthru fileecho.

areamgr commands. The template names are PAUSE and RESUME.
Samples can be found in the TEMPLATE.ZIP archive.
ToDo nr 103
Sugggested on 05-12-95
Implemented on 07-05-96
Suggested by Steffan Hoeke en Jos Chrispijn
Description Offer the ability in FIXUTIL to only execute the
BuildDataBase on those directories that do not already
contain a FILES.FIX database instead of rebuilding them
all. This feature is controlled with the -CreateMissing
switch. If this switch is used, only the missing FILES.FIX
database files will be created.
Ex. FIXUTIL BuildDataBase -CreateMissing
ToDo nr 106
Sugggested on 09-12-95
Implemented on 09-05-96
Suggested by Tony Van den Bogaert
Description Add another Semaphore field for echomail messages. That
way, two different semaphores get made, depending on when
new netmail and/or echomail messages were written by
ALLFIX.
ToDo nr 107
Sugggested on 10-12-95
Implemented on 07-05-96
Suggested by Jerry Schwartz
Description Add a @passthru macro which is set to true for a fileecho
that is passthru. This macro will return either "Yes" or
"No". This macro will always return "No" when used in the
FileFind and Request Processor templates.
ToDo nr 109
Sugggested on 13-12-95
Implemented on 07-05-96
Suggested by Jeroen van de Leur
Description Add a @prgname macro which returns the name of the program,
such as "ALLFIX", "ALLFIX/2", or "ALLFIX!".
ToDo nr 118
Sugggested on 01-01-96
Implemented on 07-05-96
Suggested by Barnaby Rushton
Description Add a @systemstatus macro which returns "inactive" or
"active", depending on the "inactive" settting in the Node
manager.
ToDo nr 132
Sugggested on 19-01-96
Implemented on 07-05-96
Suggested by Scott Drake, Oran Meir
Description Strip PCBoard color codes and macros from descriptions.
Format for the color code is:
@X## where ## is a number.
Format for macros is:
@name@
ToDo nr 216
Sugggested on 07-05-96
Implemented on 07-05-96
Suggested by A lot of people
Description Built in the ability to automatically add file areas to the
RemoteAccess BBS configuration when auto-adding a new
fileecho. Two new features have been added to the Group
manager to help coordinate this. First, the "Add BBS" field
determines whether or not ALLFIX should add new fileechos
for this group to the BBS. The second option "BBS mask"
determines which BBS file area ALLFIX should use as a
template for the new area. A value of 0 disables the
template feature.
ToDo nr 217
Sugggested on 08-05-96
Implemented on 08-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms
Description Due to a number of problems with the naming convention used
by ALLFIX for TIC archives, this system has changed. The
current system will use the following naming convention:
[nodeid].xxC
where [nodeid] is a number based on the system address and
xx is a number between 00 and 99.
This system will hopefully solve the problem where ALLFIX
unpacks files which are not TIC archives. It will make the
naming convention easier to understand.
ToDo nr 219
Sugggested on 08-05-96
Implemented on 08-05-96
Suggested by A lot of people
Description Added the ability to also automatically add file areas to
Concord BBS.
ToDo nr 220
Sugggested on 09-05-96
Implemented on 09-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms
Description In order to make the request processor in ALLFIX more
universal, ALLFIX will assume that it is running in
FrontDoor mode (i.e. it will expect the different
parameters on the commandline), unless the -SRIF switch is
used which tells ALLFIX that the next parameter after the
-SRIF switch is the name of the SRIF file.
Example: ALLFIX Rp -SRIF [SRIF filename]
The name of the SRIF file is automatically provided by the
mailers which support the SRIF standard.
ToDo nr 221
Sugggested on 10-05-96
Implemented on 10-05-96
Suggested by A lot of people
Description Added the ability to also automatically add file areas to
Maximus 3.0.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14 new feature(s) and/or change(s)
ALLFIX version 1.10 build 3, Bugs fixed since 12-05-96
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bug nr 447
Reported on 30-04-96
Fixed on 13-05-96
Description The carriage return that ALLFIX places into the keyboard
buffer is 'leaking' through other DesqView windows.
ALLFIX places this key into the keyboard buffer to prevent
compression programs from waiting for keyboard input.
Bug nr 474
Reported on 11-05-96
Fixed on 13-05-96
Reported by Robert Stark
Description When selecting a file in Hatch, ALLFIX should display a
directories contents when a directory name is entered
without a filespec. Currently, it only lists the other
directories in that directory.
Bug nr 476
Reported on 12-05-96
Fixed on 13-05-96
Reported by Paul Lopez
Description The request processor is not treating the limits "Max
files" and "Max size" as disabled when they are set to 0.
This means that it is only possible to freq something when
the limits are set to something other than 0.
Bug nr 477
Reported on 12-05-96
Fixed on 12-05-96
Reported by Andreas Soehnel
Description ALLFIX is trying to unpack .TIC files as if they are TIC
archive files.
Bug nr 478
Reported on 12-05-96
Fixed on 12-05-96
Reported by Hans Schuts, Andreas Soehnel
Description ALLFIX is aborting with a "file not open" error when
processing .TIC files.
Bug nr 481
Reported on 13-05-96
Fixed on 13-05-96
Reported by Scott Drake
Description The report sent to a user when fileechos were added or
removed does not look correct anymore. Since the
descriptions were moved to the right, due to the increase
in the length of the file tags, they are wrapping over to
the next line.
Bug nr 482
Reported on 13-05-96
Fixed on 13-05-96
Reported by Brian Rapp
Description The "McMail" and "T-Mail" mailer modes were not selectable
for the "Mailer mode" option in the "Global options" menu.
This problem only affected the OS/2 version of ASETUP.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALLFIX version 1.10 build 3, New features and changes since 12-05-96
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ToDo nr 231
Sugggested on 13-05-96
Implemented on 13-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms
Description ALLFIX and ASETUP have been changed so that they can start
up from a virtual dos window. This makes it possible to
start ALLFIX up from a batch file running under a DOS
mailer, for example.
ToDo nr 232
Sugggested on 13-05-96
Implemented on 13-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms, and others
Description ALLFIX/2 should use a named semaphore file for detecting if
ALLFIX or ASETUP is already busy. Using a file based
semaphore causes problems if the system crashes while
ALLFIX is running. The file is not always cleaned up. The
result is that ALLFIX will not start up again, because it
believes that it or ASETUP is active in another process.
Using named semaphores solves this problem, since they are
automatically removed when the process finishes. ASETUP,
HATCH, and ALLFIX now use these names semaphores.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 new feature(s) and/or change(s)
ALLFIX version 1.10 build 4, Bugs fixed since 14-05-96
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bug nr 486
Reported on 14-05-96
Fixed on 14-05-96
Reported by Freddy Verrezen
Description When scanning for file requests, ALLFIX should not scan for
more than 60 seconds. Otherwise, the remove system will
hang up, due to a time out error.
A Request Processor should return control back to the
mailer after 35-40 seconds. ALLFIX has been changed so that
it should return control after no more than 40 seconds,
depending on the speed of your system.
Bug nr 487
Reported on 14-05-96
Fixed on 14-05-96
Reported by Lutz Buchheister
Description ALLFIX putting a "CHARS" kludge line in the messages
instead of a "CHRS" kludge line.
Bug nr 488
Reported on 16-05-96
Fixed on 16-05-96
Reported by Fidel Leon
Description ALLFIX is aborting in a runtime error while scanning the
file database for FileFind replies:
Unknown runtime error #216, program aborted.
Error address : $00058E4C
Bug nr 490
Reported on 17-05-96
Fixed on 17-05-96
Reported by Harald Harms
Description When processing a file request, ALLFIX was not correctly
checking the password assigned to directories in the "List"
and "Sec list" files.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 bug(s) fixed
ALLFIX version 1.10 build 4, New features and changes since 14-05-96
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ToDo nr 4
Sugggested on 18-12-95
Implemented on 16-05-96
Suggested by Michael Bauer
Description Change the "Add FILE_ID" option so that a user can also
force ALLFIX to add a (new) FILE_ID.DIZ to an archive, even
if the file already contains one.
ToDo nr 6
Sugggested on 20-12-95
Implemented on 17-05-96
Suggested by Bob Brisco
Description Add a an icon to the selection windows to indicate that
there are more options than can be seen in the window.
ToDo nr 112
Sugggested on 27-12-95
Implemented on 15-05-96
Suggested by Oran Meir
Description Support the index files for the PCBoard fileareas.
ToDo nr 169
Sugggested on 19-03-96
Implemented on 14-05-96
Suggested by Peter Hampf
Description Offer the ability to define and use an external editor
whenever the internal editor is called. The external editor
can be defined in the "External programs" menu.
ToDo nr 170
Sugggested on 20-03-96
Implemented on 14-05-96
Suggested by Dan O'Reilly
Description When ALLFIX reports that it has requested an area from an
Uplink, log the address of that uplink.
ToDo nr 180
Sugggested on 24-03-96
Implemented on 14-05-96
Suggested by Ajmal Rehman
Description Add an option in the Node manager to control whether or not
a node gets a new fileecho announcement, when a new
fileecho was automatically added.
ToDo nr 188
Sugggested on 31-03-96
Implemented on 14-05-96
Suggested by Darr Hoag
Description Offer the ability to log the path statements in a .TIC
file. This option should be added to the "Log options"
menu, so that users can turn it off.
ToDo nr 205
Sugggested on 21-04-96
Implemented on 15-05-96
Suggested by Michael Bauer
Description Offer the ability to hatch a particular file periodically
even if it has not changed. A new field has been added in
the Hatch manager with the name "Always". If this field is
set to Yes, then ALLFIX will hatch the file whenever the
file exists and the file attribute is turned on.
ALLFIX will still turn off the file attribute when the file
is hatched. The reason for this is to prevent ALLFIX from
hatching the file each time it runs. The purpose of this
switch is to hatch the file even if it is a dupe.
ToDo nr 207
Sugggested on 24-04-96
Implemented on 17-05-96
Suggested by Olaf Westrik, Martijn Ruygrok
Description Add an option to toggle the automatic clean up mode in
ALLFIX, which deletes any netmails where the file attach is
missing.
The name of the option is "Auto clean up" and can be found
in the "Global options" menu. If you are updating from 4.40
build 5 (DOS) or 1.10 build 3 (OS/2) or 1.20 build 3 (WC)
then you should manually set this option back to Yes.
For new installations or people updating from older
versions, this value is automatically set to Yes.
ToDo nr 209
Sugggested on 01-05-96
Implemented on 14-05-96
Suggested by Peter Davies
Description When a system is removed from the Node manager, it should
also be removed from the ALLFIX.DAT file. This will prevent
the situation where the node in question is automatically
added to any outstanding uplink requests.
ToDo nr 224
Sugggested on 10-05-96
Implemented on 14-05-96
Suggested by Chris Stone
Description InterMail uses the request file as the response file. This
means that ALLFIX should read the contents of the request
file and then use the same filename for the list of files
to send. If the last parameter, namely the name of the
response file is missing, then use the name of the request
file.
Example for InterMail:
d:\allfix\allfix rp %a %n %x %f
Where the last parameter, %f, is expanded to the name of
the request file.
ToDo nr 234
Sugggested on 15-05-96
Implemented on 15-05-96
Suggested by Fidel Leon
Description Support the PCBoard subject kludge line.
Example:
#255@SUBJECT:subject#0xE3
ToDo nr 236
Sugggested on 16-05-96
Implemented on 16-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms, and others
Description Add the ability to create an ALLFILES listing.
This feature has been built into FIXUTIL. Usage:
FIXUTIL Allfiles -File <template> -Name <filename>
See ALLFILES.APL for an example template file.
FIXUTIL will only scan the files areas that are defined in
the FileFind file areas menu. If there is a need for a
seperate list of fileareas for this feature, then that will
be added at a later date.
ToDo nr 238
Sugggested on 17-05-96
Implemented on 17-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms
Description It is possible to assign a password to a fileecho by
entering the destination directory of that fileecho in
either the "List" or "Sec list" file and assign a password
to it.
ToDo nr 239
Sugggested on 17-05-96
Implemented on 17-05-96
Suggested by Harald Harms
Description ALLFIX has the ability to build an index file which it uses
to execute the file requests faster. Large systems may
choose this method, by simply using:
FIXUTIL CompileRequestIdx
To build the index file. Please note that file is not
automatically updated by ALLFIX when importing files. You
need to manually (once a day) update this file by running
FixUtil.

contains a path or an extension. In order to be more user
friendly, ALLFIX will strip the extension and the path from
teh template name. It will search for the template in
the ALLFIX template path, regardless if a path has been
specified.
